Diagonal
a line joining two opposite corners of a parallelogram
Diameter
a straight line passing through the center of a figure from side to side
Dividend
The number that is to be divided by another number
Equation
a statement that the values of two expressions are equal
Estimate
an approximate calculation
Exponent
a quantity that expresses the power to which the base number or value must be raised
Factor
a number that goes evenly into another
Improper fraction
when the numerator is larger than the denominator
mean
the average of a given set of numbers
median
the middle term in a series of numbers
midpoint
the exact middle of a line segment
mode
the number that occurs the most frequently in a set of numbers
Multiplicand
the number that is to be multiplied
multiplier
how many times it takes the multiplicand
numerator
the top number in a fraction
parallel
lines, planes, segments, figures that rest side by side and maintain the same distance continuously between them
perimeter
the distance around the outside of a figure
perpendicular
being at an angle of 90 degrees in relation to another line, figure or plane
probability
the likeliness that something will occur
radius
line segment from the center of the circle to the arch
ratio
comparison between two amounts that shows the amount of times one amount is contained within the other amount
slope
the degree at which a line rises or falls on a given plane
solution
the answer to a puzzle, equation or problem
symmetry
being made up of exactly the same parts which are arranged around an axis or are facing one another
variable
a letter that represents an unknown value
